The chalky Chevalières lieu-dit sits just above the village, right next to Les Rougeots, and regularly makes wines that could easily justify a Premier Cru classification. Actually, Les Chevalières is an extension of the Premier Cru band across Meursault—with pretty much the same soils and altitude. As the slope steers around the village, the vineyards begin to turn eastwards, thus becoming cooler and rockier as they rise up towards Auxey-Duresses.

Reviews

Outstanding. “A markedly more retrained nose timidly offers up its array of overtly floral-suffused aromas of citrus zest, apple and mineral reduction. The mouthfeel of the medium weight flavors is both sleeker and more refined if less generously proportioned while exhibiting a lovely minerality on the sneaky long finish. This is classic Chevalières, which is to say a wine of delicacy and finesse.” 89-91 points
Allen Meadows, Burghound
“Aromas of waxy citrus rind, lemon oil, white flowers and blanched almonds preface the 2018 Meursault Les Chevalières, a medium to full-bodied, layered and incisive wine that's concentrated, chalky and penetrating. There are fully seven barrels this year, and the wine is well-worth an effort to seek out.” 91-93+ points
