Maizières hails from a sunny lieu-dit situated east of the village, planted in 1997 to both Chardonnay and Pinot. Dureuil organically farms two hectares here, and while the Pinot is blended into the Rully Rouge, the Chardonnay fruit is bottled into this outstanding single-vineyard wine. The soils are lighter clay/limestone, but the wine itself is more generous than the Domaine’s Rully villages.

Domaine Vincent Dureuil-Janthial Rully Blanc Maizières 2017

Reviews

“Aromas of minty green apples, pastry cream and white flowers introduce the 2017 Rully Maizières Blanc, a medium to full-bodied wine that's broader and more textural than the domaine's blended cuvée of Rully, though it shares similar tension and definition, concluding with a saline, mouthwatering finish. This is a sunny, gently sloping lieu-dit where Dureil begins his harvest.”
90 points, William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
“Outstanding. A trace of matchstick character can be found on the slightly riper yet super-fresh nose of pear and apple compote that is trimmed in soft wood and lemon rind wisps. Once again there is a beguiling mouth feel to the caressing medium-bodied flavors that possess better vibrancy on the clean, very dry and focused finale. This is a very good Rully villages and worth considering.”
