Cognac Tesseron Masterblend 88's

The oldest reserves of the Tesseron family’s Grande Champagne lie nestled in their 13th century Paradis cellars that were once part of the local abbey. This special limited-edition Cognac derives from eight demijohns—25 litre heavy glass flagons—marked “1898”. Cognacs are traditionally transferred from barrel to demijohn after 75 years and the aging process continues, albeit at a very slow rate.

The demijohns that have gifted the world this remarkable Cognac were not from a single base, but rather a blend of 88 Grand Champagne Cognacs that were presumably put to demijohns from barrel in 1898. The blends would have included Ugni Blanc, Colombard and Folle Blanche along with many other grape varieties that were planted and flourished pre-phylloxera and the formation of the AOC. Only 286 bottles of this singular treasure were produced.
