From 1.15 hectares
of old vines in the heart of Fourchaume and a small portion in L’Homme
Mort at the northern end, this cuvée is a blend from three parcels of
different aspect, age and rootstock. The core material dates from 1959 to 1971 and these vines gift a very vigorous
and energetic expression of this Premier Cru.
30% old oak, there is impeccable symmetry with none of the heaviness that can sometimes
be seen from this (admittedly heterogenous) vineyard; this is Fourchaume stripped
of any excess baggage.
