Charles Lachaux looks after a thin 0.7-hectare strip of vines in the outstanding Rouges du Bas climat. This ‘lieu dit’ stretches high up on the Côte alongside the Vosne 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts. There is very little topsoil here, and the vine roots hit the hard limestone very quickly. The 2022 from Clayver looked rich and loaded with fruit with superb flesh, very fine tannins and excellent length.
