The Semillon was sourced from a different site this year, in the Vine Vale rather than coming from the valley floor. The new site is about 100 metres higher, also on sand but with some granitic rock present in the soils. The vines are own-rooted, with an average vine age of 40 years. The Sauvignon Blanc component is from the same valley floor site as previously, also on sandy soils. All the fruit was basket-pressed over a slow, 12-hour cycle in order to allow the juice to take in some aromatic and structural integrity from the skins. It was barrel-fermented in second-use French oak as well as some untoasted Stockinger.
