The 'village' Schlossberg is cropped from the highest vines of the Grand Cru Schlossberg hill where the soils are shallow and mineral-rich. Even in a warm year we love this wine for its tense, lively and very pure style. The 2009 is a terrific, grapefruity, elegant Riesling; delicate yet intense, fine and very long. The wine is very bright and balanced with notes of honey, apple blossom, grapefruit and some delicate white flowers. A Riesling triumphant.
