OFF DRY. The Grand Cru Furstentum vineyard is one of the greatest terroirs for Gewurztraminer. The soil is brown yet chalky with a pebbly structure that holds both moisture and heat. The slope is steep, south facing and the between 300 and 400 m altitude. Furstentum Gewurztraminers show great finesse and remarkably complex and elegant aromas and flavours. This is power house Gewurztraminer with striking grapefruit, brown spice and mixed peel aromas and flavours. This is a late harvest wine so there is plenty of richness on the palate (it has 60 grams of residual sugar and strong botrytis) but it is beautifully integrated with a pure, very refined, succulent finish. Great with strong cheeses or just on its own instead of (or pre) dessert!
