Domaine du Vissoux is run with fanatical vigour by the enigmatic Pierre-Marie Chermette. We tasted his 2010 Beaujolais at the Domaine earlier this year and despite the long drive ahead, we had trouble spitting. As a set of wines they were irresistible; juicy, joyful, lucid, full of vitality, succulence and length. We wanted to buy everything we tasted. And with the exception of one cuvee – which was already sold out - we did. If 2009 lit the Vissoux touch paper in Australia, these newly arrived 2010’s will add plenty of fuel to the fire. Kermit Lynch put it very well when he said that if mere deliciousness determined the price of a wine then Beaujolais would be the most expensive wines in his shop.
