This frisky, mineral little white is blend of Godello and Doña Blanca sourced from a variety of Bierzo terroirs. The Godello comes from the stony Carracedo site as well as some clay/limestone plots in Valtuille and Villafranca del Bierzo. The Doña Blanca hails from similar fields but also includes some older vine material from the slate soils of Espanillo. The winemaking particulars: following sorting, the grapes go into a pneumatic press, ferment is at low temperatures and then aged on the fine lees for 5 months with weekly batonnage. For sheer value this crunchy, bright white hits it out of the ballpark, as our American friends like to say. Thirteen bucks on the pour? Home run! The nose offers an array of airy citrus and mojito-scented fruit and the palate kicks in with vibrant sweet mint, citrus and a juicy mineral quality. Super refreshing, yet soft and flowing, this is about as close as wine gets to drinking from a mountain fresh spring. It's an exciting, deliciously entertaining country wine and we think you'll have some fun working with this. Don't just take our work for it: Go ask Alice.
