Larmandier Bernier Champagne Brut Tradition Vertus 1er Cru NV
A blend of 80 per cent Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs and 20 per cent Pinot Noir. The fruit is hand-picked predominantly from the 2007 vintage with one-third reserve wines. It has less than 4gm dosage so this Brut is also an extra brut! A full, rich wine with a lovely creamy texture and a striking earthy lick to close. This is Larmandier's ode to the traditional, house styles, although without the high yields and dosage.
"The new darling of the champagne drinking set, Larmandier-Bernier is the face of 21st-century champagne: growers turned makers pursuing biodynamic winegrowing and making. The wines are fresh and hugely appealing with Brut Tradition highlighting citrusy chardonnay with a pleasant, spicy edge." Jeni Port, The Age, November 2010
