Landron Domaine De La Louvetrie 2010
Landron's first label is the straight 'Louvetrie' cuvée that originates from soils rich in amphibole but also sand, clay and gneiss. It remains the estate's only wine made from a blend of different sites, although it is still a significant cut above the competition and manages to retain a unique, resonant house style of Landron Muscadet minerality. There is excellent density of juicy, ripe green melon and apple fruit. This is uber-fresh, with a joyous prickle of natural CO2, pulpy texture as well as brilliant clarity, finishing with an invigorating tang of salt and citrus. Jo bottles this cuvee twice a year. The first bottling is, as traditional in Muscadet for a Sur Lie, in the spring following harvest and the second in September, after 10 months ageing on lees, to give the wine more gras, more density and texture. This first bottling is simply a delicious, racy, mineral dry white of great precision. It is a ridiculous bargain at this price.
