UPCOMING EVENTS

JUNE 3-5th

Degustación de Vinos

Bibendum Wine Co is very excited to be welcoming eight of our Spanish producers to Australia in June. What began as an idea to invite a couple of our producers from Spain has swelled into an mini wine ‘Armada’ and promises to be a fantastic Spanish-themed week for our producers and customers alike.

Amid myriad satellite events, the big ticket events of the week will be tastings in Melbourne (Monday June 3rd) and Sydney (Wednesday June 5th), which aim to highlight fine and avant-garde wines from some of Spain’s most respected artisan producers, stretching the length and breadth of the diverse viticultural landscape of the Iberian peninsula. There will be over 60 wines available to taste with eight producers present to pour their own drops.

MARCH 2013
4-7th: Luciano Sandrone

Piedmont & Barolo - with Luciano Sandrone "One of the leading lights in Piedmont."

For the first time ever, Barolo legend Luciano Sandrone will be visiting Australia in March this year. We hope you can join us for a unique tasting and seminar on this producer’s remarkable wines. Luciano has generously dipped into his cellar to help us amass a mouth-watering selection of current releases and museum bits 'n' bobs including multiple vintages of Sandrone's fabled Le Vigne and Cannubi Boschis Baroli. With you lot on your best behaviour, hopefully we can coerce him to allocate Australia a little more of his Piedmont finery. This promises to be a unique, insightful and mind-blowing tasting celebrating the wines of a grower that is universally recognised as one of the living greats. Fino ad allora.

Luciano Sandrone is one of the leading lights in Piedmont. No grower has managed to so brilliantly reconcile modern and traditional approaches… Luciano Sandrone's wines have never been more elegant than they are today. …Simply put, Luciano Sandrone is at the top of his game.Antonio Galloni, The Wine Advocate

RECENT EVENTS

JANUARY 2013
14-16th: Jean-Marie Guffens (Domaine Guffens-Heynen/Verget) in the trade.

Lock up your sommelier! Expect the unexpected as we welcome Burgundy iconoclast Jean-Marie Guffens to Australia for the first time. Pioneer of the micro-négociant, superlative viticulturist and Burgundy's "celebrated pariah" according to Andrew Jefford, we are delighted to offer our clients the rare opportunity to taste with, and pick the brains of, one of Europe's most celebrated wines growers.

At this time the exact line up of wines has yet to be confirmed but we can promise a stellar line up from across the Guffens stable: Domaine Guffens-Heynen, Maison Verget and Verget du Sud. This is one, as they say, not to be missed.

Please contact Fleur Candy on the details above for more information.

“This tiny domaine is one the world’s pinnacles for Chardonnay. We do not know of another winemaker capable of consistently extracting so much eloquence from the most noble of fruit and packing so much minerality from the limestone terroir in to the one wine! ” Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve The World’s Greatest Wines

“Before Guffens, no one knew that Mâcon Peirreclos or even Pouilly-Fuissé could rival Corton-Charlemagne or Bâtard Montrachet. Now they do.
Andrew Jefford, The New France

NOVEMBER 2012
19-25th: Jo Landron in the trade.

We are delighted that smokin' Jo Landron has agreed to join us this November for a round of trade visits, tasting events and so forth. This biodynamic grower, whose wines the French wine bible La Review du Vin de France has said are "now the reference in the – too small – genre of terroir driven Muscadet.", continues fight the lonely fight, proving to the world  - glass by glass - there is so, so much more to this region than a cursory taste of the Muscadet 'body politic' would suggest.

Jo's latest releases do little to dispel the theory that this vigneron is one of the Loire's most exciting sources for pure wines of true personality, intensity of flavour and distinctive, electric energy. Please contact your account manager if you are interested in making an appointment to get your lips around some crunchy, earthy Muscadet of the highest order.
