Together with Collector Wines and others, Eden Road is proving that the trail blazed by Clonakilla was no fluke. Here we have a young yet experienced winemaker, Nick Spencer, with a crystal clear, long-term vision, making a range of exceptional, high-grown wines at remarkable prices. Already this producer has won the Jimmy Watson Trophy (with its first Shiraz), received a Halliday 5 star rating and has just been awarded the ‘Best new winery’ gong in the recently released Age/SMH Good Wine Guide 2011. The Eden Road wines all derive primarily from the ACT/NSW regions of Canberra District, Hilltops, Gundagai and Tumbarumba. So the name has nothing to do with the Eden Valley. In fact Eden Road is supposed to suggest an ideal (as in the Garden of Eden), not a place.
