As crazy as it sounds, we now work with no less than four Côtes du Rhône growers and we are considering a fifth. Why? is the obvious question. Thing is, this question only arises because we tend to think of the Côtes du Rhône as one, homogenous appellation. In fact it is a vast, complex region the size of a small country. Within this huge expanse, covering some 100,000 acres of vines, there are many, radically different terroirs with different altitudes, soils, aspects and climates. From the Ardèche (where we find Mas de Libian) to the Gard, from the Drome through Vaucluse (where, in the famed village of Cairanne, we source Oratoire St Martin) and on to the Orange/Châteauneuf area (technically also a a part of the Vaucluse, where Domaine Marcoux make outstanding Côtes du Rhône), the... learn more
