On two occasions recently, we’ve been lucky enough taste an expansive selection of both museum and current releases wines from the cellars of this remarkable domaine. The first tasting took place on our home turf and again highlighted, amongst other things, just how special the union between great Chenin and contemporary Australian cuisine can be. The second tasting, in the Loire Valley, starred – side by side – three out of four of Vouvray’s finest domaines. If we had a need to calibrate how well Vouvray’s reigning laureate was keeping pace with the younger generation, then here was our chance. Without going into the details, let’s just say that in the pecking order of Vouvray estates, Huet retains the position it has occupied for decades.
