“…Bannockburn produces outstanding wines across the range, all with individuality, style, great complexity and depth of flavour.” ***** Outstanding Winery, James Halliday, 2010 Australian Wine Companion.
Such was the hype when the 2001 Bannockburn wines were released that the Hooper family decided to put some stock aside for extended cellaring, to be released at the appropriate time. Well, that appropriate time has finally arrived and we are now able to offer the 2001 Bannockburn S.R.H Chardonnay and its “sibling”, the 2001 Bannockburn Chardonnay to our customers. We were fortunate enough to sample and indeed even sell a small parcel of the 2001 Chardonnay last year, but this is the first time that we have been able to offer the incredible 2001 S.R.H. We have managed to convince the Hooper family to release the remaining stocks of both these wines at a remarkably fair price (essentially the same as the current vintage!) Wines of this ilk are a rarity in Australia: fully mature, single vineyard bottlings from great, close planted sites and mature vines, dry grown and cropped low to produce the very finest quality. The two Chardonnays below are in their absolute prime and offer a very special Bannockburn drinking experience. They will probably not benefit from further cellaring and yet they show no signs of falling over. These bottles have never left the winery until now, and have all been checked for ullage and colour and they carry Bannockburn “Museum Release” stickers.
In fact, Bannockburn stands so steadfastly behind the condition of each and every bottle that they offer a 100% quality guarantee: any problematic bottles will be replaced or credited. You cannot ask for any more than that! Those looking for mature, perfectly cellared wines at fair prices to offer their customers need look no further.
