I’ve got lots of ‘a man walks into a bar’ jokes but one of my favourites is… A dyslexic walks into a bra…. It’s always funnier after a martini or two. Anyhoo, I hope that our customers know us well enough now to be absolutely sure that the only reason we would pick up a gin agency is because the quality of the product completely blew our minds. That’s exactly what happened here. Jensen’s, one of only six licensed gin distilleries in London, are also one of the pioneers fuelling London’s exciting gin revival. Just two small-batch spirits are crafted by this small, passionate team, both distilled in honour of London’s pre-industrial gin heritage; an old school, juicy London Dry and a funky, unsweetened and moreish Old Tom. After lying dormant for decades, London’s craft gin scene is again starting to fire on all cylinders. It’s amazing to think that once 17,000 stills operated within the City of London, fuelling the city’s first gin craze. Today there are but six licensed craft distilleries scattered across the town, from Battersea to Bermondsey and these are the first new licensees since Beefeater in 1820! Jensen’s is one of these. Focusing on crafting small batches of authentic, pre-industrial style gin, the small team behind Jensen’s distillery are emblematic of the new breed of passionate, well-versed distillers.
